January 3, 2011 in Creativity,Posts,Writing with 2 Comments

Tell me your best idea pitch! Good ideas and bad ideas included! What was the creative process you went through? How did you prepare? Were you successful? What did you learn? What did you learn about pitching ideas? Scan the article below and tell me about the best idea you ever pitched. The Top 3 Ideas (and/or comments) win a Free Copy of my book, The Longing: Embracing the Deepest Truth of Who You Are. (This idea contest will end on Wednesday, January 15, 2011.)

A friend of mine in Chicago sent me this great article that recently appeared in Saturday’s New York Times. This interview with Catherine Winder on Vision at Rainmaker Entertainment offers a challenging perspective on pitching ideas, creative leadership and the creative process. Winder challenges creatives and executives alike…

1. On Vision: “It’s key to give everybody context and vision and clarity of what we’re trying to achieve.”

2. Start with the Big Picture: What are we trying to achieve in terms of quality and creativity.

3. Remember: “Everyone comes at things with their own context and assumptions.”

4. Consider Your Audience: Especially in interviews, consider what you wear and questions you ask artists and executives.

5. Pitch Your Idea in 15-30 seconds: “If you can be concise and come up with pitching your idea in a really clear way, it means you’re onto something. In my experience, if you give someone a minute, you’re going to get five minutes.”

Hey there! My Idea is called: ( Game Box) Think of it as a partner to “Red Box” What if we conjoined both. Into a movie/games machine! It would sell. Even having a Game Box next to every red box would benefit both company’s! That’s my idea in 30seconds. -Jonathan.

Thanks Jonathan!
Have you pitched this idea to anyone yet? Developed it in more detail? We use Red Box all the time and my boys love video games. I’m sure you’d have us as customers!
