If you want to create great conditions for love to flourish in your marriage, you need to read the best information about true love. The first place to start is God’s love chapter found in 1 Corinthians 13.

Just this morning, I was reading a few qualities I’d love to flourish in my life.

“Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Cor. 13:7)

Last I checked, I can’t muster up these qualities on my own. I need God’s love and grace to soak my heart, soul, mind and spirit. (Just ask my wife!) Even though we are going on 24 years of marriage, I’ve made plenty of blunders along the way.

She is my low-maintenance wife and I am her high-maintenance husband. Quite true.

If I ever write a “marriage memoir”, I have a title I think might work: My Life as a Crash-Test Dummy.

If you want to create the best conditions possible in your marriage, you need to go to the source of true love. (I wrote about this in How Extravagant is Your Love.)

On this Valentine’s Day, if you want true love, the very heart of God is the first place to look.

I hope you draw near to the heart of God today.

His love is what enables us to create a beautiful life.

Questions: What amazes you most about God’s love for you? Describe a time when you experienced God’s love in a deep and powerful way.

I’d love to hear your comments, insights and questions.
