5 Secrets of Flourishing Artists – A Free Webinar

Are you a flourishing artist? Or do you feel discouraged and overwhelmed like you’re floundering? Whether you’re flourishing, floundering or somewhere in between, I’d like to invite you to listen to this free webinar, 5 Secrets of Flourishing Artists. As a writer for over twenty years, I’ve certainly gone through seasons where I feel like I’m floundering. There are days when it seems like I can’t get traction for where I want to go. And if it’s not my writing or film projects, it could be my spiritual life. Or key relationships with my family and friends. Can you relate?

Discovering what it means to flourish as an artist can be an elusive journey, but I am convinced it’s not out of our grasp. Jesus did come to give us life and life abundantly in the here and now. As we find our life in Him, I believe there’s great overflow — a flourishing, you might say — that pours into our art, life and faith. So with this is mind, a couple artist friends of mine in our Grove community and I hosted this free webinar through The Grove Center for the Arts & Media. The response we received to our 5 Secrets webinar was overwhelming! Here’s some positive comments we received from artists who listened in…

I really enjoyed this presentation. It was wonderful to hear you talk about making time for art and trusting in God to help with it. I have multiple jobs and am so busy that I haven’t thought about many of these things in a long time. It was great to sit and listen to three great minds! Nicole

Thank you for this very inspirational and informative discussion. Thank you also for the free resources. I just posted the link on my Facebook page. Carolyn

Thank you for this encouragement. These elements are essentials that I sometimes forget in my day to day pursuit of following God’s call. Dennis

In 5 Secrets of Flourishing Artists, we’ll be talking about things that matter to you as an artist. Yes, it’s completely free and at no cost or obligation to you. And, it only lasts an hour.

It’s a perfect investment to help you flourish as an artist.

Whether you’re floundering, flourishing or somewhere in between, I think you’ll be encouraged. If you know a discouraged artist who seems stuck, your invitation could be just what they need. Thanks for sharing!

I thought the session was pretty good, and a great stepping stone.
I was curious about the assertion that jesus was an artist. bezalel was specifically noted as having had training (which I would think means engaging with and thinking through materials, techniques, traditions, etc.) in exodus 31:

See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3 And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.

but I don’t see that anywhere re: jesus. I understand the association between spirituality and creativity (as image-bearers of a creative God, we are inherently creative), but I have problems equating creativity as being the same thing as being an artist (i.e. being “artistic” or “creative” versus the calling of an artist). jesus wasn’t called to be an artist, whereas bezale’el was.
